How I see it.

Walter Mitchell Jr - The Community StewardMy name is Walter Mitchell Jr and I’m a staunch advocate for the things I believe to be right. I’m in no way a “searcher for consensus” nor am I a pacifist. I’m an advocate at heart. I think of myself as neither liberal nor conservative, Democrat nor Republican because at some point the strict confines of these ideologies will conflict with truth and justice and I refuse to knowingly be on the wrong side of that line. I am instead what the interests of truth and justice demands of me everywhere and at all times. This is the me I aspire to be and yes I fall short but I refuse to resign myself to anything less.

I’m pro-unity/union to the extent possible wherever there’s injustice in the work place and pro-community among the downtrodden and oppressed. I believe that there are moments in time where we are called upon to render a service for truth and justice (good) or chaos and confusion (evil). I choose to give of myself in the interest of truth and justice.

The Civil Rights Movement led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and others never officially ended nor were its leaders able to declare victory. It feels like that mantle was laid down upon the assassination of Dr. King and the gate keepers became to comfortable in their creature comforts and the evils of the past has once again resurfaced with even more momentum and we have inherited that fight.

Again, I’m here for that.
